Lameness is a major health problem on livestock farms. The first step in a control strategy is to assess the prevalence of lameness and foot lesions. This step is necessary to assess the extent of the problem and to get an idea of its origin(s). Finally, this step is a prerequisite for criticizing the building, its use and the farmer's practices.
